eBay has changed how they handle feedback.  It is no longer possible for a seller to warn others of a deadbeat buyer.  So I have to resort to doing it here and hope that others find out before they get burned.

larrysmith62 won an auction I had going for a MASTR II radio.  Within a day eBay showed it marked as “payment sent” but PayPal did not show the money.  I contacted larrysmith62 and he claimed some problem with eBay.  I asked for him to keep me updated and offered to help.  That was the last I got from him despite three other messages I sent to him.

I never received his payment.  Eventually I relisted and sold the radio again, this time to someone who paid promptly.  When I tried to leave feedback for larrysmith62 eBay tells me that because I did not receive payment that’s not possible.  I did notice that he currently has 5 transactions that show 100% positive feedback.  But when you read the details of the feedback you see that two of the comments are that this guy is a deadbeat.  It’s great that they put it in the comments but that’s not productive negative feedback.  eBay’s feedback system is broken and needs to be fixed, especially considering the high prices they charge.
